Is God real? Or is he imaginary?
If you found my previous post The Bible is wrong! (duh....) interesting, you should probably visit Why Does God Hate Amputees? by Marshall Brain. Found this page through micketymoc's blog Stepping On Poop.
The page is quite lengthy and comprehensive in the topics it discusses, and if I were asked to describe its contents in one word, I guess that word would have to be: provocative. Here's a brief excerpt:
If God is real and God wrote the Bible, then we should certainly post the Ten Commandments in our courthouses and shopping centers, pray in our schools and eliminate the theory of evolution from every curriculum. We should focus our society on God.
On the other hand, if God is imaginary, then religion is an illusion. Christianity, Judaism and Islam are pointless. We can eliminate God from our society because God is meaningless.
I guess you can see where this is going to. Another post on religion, with possibly a lot of discussion in the wings. Or maybe not. Let's see.
I've read a number of chapters so far, and I'm sure some people will definitely find the contents controversial. I'll reserve my comments until I have read a lot more of it. If you're so inclined to, try reading it, and tell me what you think.

The first amendment of the US constitution gave a temporary solution to the dilemma of whether God is Real or imaginary. THAT'S WHY SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE IS THE FOUNDATION OF CIVILIZED SOCIETIES.
The only thing more important is the SEPARATION OF SCIENCE AND RELIGION.
General theory of relativity is imperfect too because it can't fully explain the weirdness of mercury's orbit. But it is a hell of a lot better than classical physics(Kepler or ptolemy's)attempt at explaining that planet's orbit. Evolutionary LAWS may be flawed, but it is a lot better than any explanation we have about the origin of species. If you believe that God created the elegant laws of Nature, then Natural Selection is God's way of INTELLIGENTLY DESIGNING the carbon based life around us: which includes you and me. One irrefutable fact that evolutionary LAWS are at work right here and now? Read the newspaper headlines about the avian flu and SARS.
But ofcourse DARWIN COULD'VE BEEN WRONG! But rest assured folks, if he was, the first people who will tell us to dump him will be the SCIENTISTS. Just like what they did to Kepler and Ptolemy.
if proponents of intelligent design would like to mount a serious challenge against natural selection, they should:
put down the bible, grab a hoe, go to the badlands and start digging for human (NOT just HUMANOID) fossils and prove via carbon dating that they are as old as the dinosaurs.
or they should build an accurate radio telescope that will prove that the FARTHEST QUASARS are just 6,000 light years away (this will prove that the stars are just 6000 years old- a figure consistent with bishop ussher's determination of how old the earth is by using the bible's geneaologies as reference point.)
