Pacquiao knocks out Morales....
Manny Pacquiao finally got his revenge.
Early last year "The Pacman" was defeated via unanimous decision by Mexican bruiser Erik Morales. A lot of us felt that Pacquiao was cheated of victory. A rematch was inevitable to finally settle the issue. Pacquiao had a lot of excuses then. Now, after their second meeting in the ring, he didn't need any.
Only a few hours ago today (January 21 in Las Vegas), he finally got back at the Mexican, landing a variety of hard blows to knock him down twice in the tenth round. The second knockdown ended it for Morales, with referee Kenny Bayless waving the contest off 2:33 into the round, amidst the cheers of more than 14,000 boxing fans at the Thomas & Mack Arena.
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo can breathe a sigh of relief, at least for the next couple of weeks. More likely than not the country will be preoccupied toasting Pacquiao's victory rather than be taking potshots at her Presidency.
And that's just fine with me. We really do need something to raise our spirits, and to get our minds off politics, at least for a little while.
Congratulations Manny. You did your country proud.
