Crazy things in the news....
I chanced upon a lot of inane news today. Reading news items like these leave no doubt in my mind why this country is going to the dogs:
Lozano files complaint vs JDV, House secgen
Atty. Oliver Lozano, the one who filed a recycled impeachment complaint last January 18 at the House of Representatives which was promptly returned for not being endorsed by any member of Congress (see previous post here) filed a complaint against Speaker Jose de Venecia and House Secretary General Roberto Nazareno. The complaint is based on their refusal to act on the complaint he filed.
Anak ng... siya na nga mali, siya pa ang may ganang magreklamo. Naturingang abogado pa.
Employers say no to 'Pacman' holiday
Senator Bong Revilla's proposal to declare January 27 a special non-working holiday in celebration of Manny Pacquiao's victory is opposed by the Employers Confederation of the Philippines (ECOP).
Pacman's album a hit in Vegas
Manny Pacquiao's debut album is selling like hotcakes in Las Vegas.
Dami talaga nakiki-ride on sa kasikatan ni Manny Pacquiao. Pati itong si Manny mismo, nagagawan nila nang paraan para sumabak sa kahit hindi niya linya upang mapagkakitaan lang.
Resolutions honoring Pacquiao rain in House
House Speaker Jose de Venecia said he would give a "financial award" to Pacquiao and another decoration once he grants their invitation to visit the House again.
Hanep a, nanalo na nga yung tao ng $2 milyon, gusto ninyo pang bigyan ng barya para sikat din kayo a.
I won't say anything anymore over Atty. Lozano's insistence that his rehashed impeachment complaint be given due course. I mean, what else is there to say?
As for Manny Pacquiao, without a doubt, his victory has brought great honor and pride to this country as a whole, and at least for a short while, unified the Filipino people. I only wish that he be more circumspect in the commercial ventures he undertakes, and to not allow himself to be used by unscrupulous politicians and businessmen who just want to ride on his fame and/or cash in on his name.
We've seen it before, popular boxer becomes champion, is toasted, honored, and when the winning stops, and the money runs out, the now poor boxer is left by the wayside to fend for himself. Wouldn't want to see that happen to Pacquiao.
Oh well. Tomorrow I'll just read the comics section instead.
