Point scored....

More than three months ago, I wrote a post entitled: Don't they have anything better to do? which discussed the long standing on-air feuding of the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) and Ang Dating Daan (ADD).

TV definitely has its uses, but somehow, using it as a medium for hurling insults against a faith/religion/order/cult with opposing beliefs doesn't seem at all proper, don't you agree?

Well, it would seem that someone scored a point from this broadcast bickering. Check this out:

Taken yesterday.

The Motion Picture Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB), created during the Marcos era by virtue of Presidential Decree No. 1986, has the power to power to "screen, review and examine all television programs and delete materials which the MTRCB may feel is in contravention of Filipino morals and values." However, Soriano has contested this power of the MTRCB, claiming that it "is unconstitutional in so far as it sanctions the censorship of religious TV programs as a form of subsequent punishment."

While I agree that freedom of religion and expression should not be curtailed by the state, such freedoms should be exercised in a manner that would not be injurious to the rights others. What do you think?

The ADD will probably bounce back. This isn't the first time they have been slapped with a suspension. And it is entirely possible that this won't be the last.

Well if you ask me, the other competitor is just showing its political might right now.

That's good but the other side should remember that things turn around and one day the situation may be reversed.

If you asked me, I would think that both of them are at fault. Religion should be focused in improving the moral fiber of the people, not to bad-mouth each other on national TV.
