2004 Bar Exam Results....

Out of 5,249 examinees coming from 75 law schools all over the country, 1,659 or 31.61% managed to pass the 2004 Bar Examinations. The Bar Examinations is the final requisite for practicing law in this jurisdiction and is reputed to be the most difficult government exam in the Philippines. The exams are held every year on the four Sundays of September and span the following subjects: Political Law, Labor Law, Civil Law, Law on Taxation, Mercantile (Commercial) Law, Criminal Law, Remedial Law and Legal Ethics.

The top ten examinees in the 2004 Bar Examinations are:

January A. Sanchez, UP, 87.45%
Ronald de Vera, UP, 86.95 percent
Carlito Martin R. Mendoza, San Beda, 86.75%
Ma. Cristina C. Larrobis, University of San Carlos, 86.3%
Efren Vincent M. Dizon, San Beda, 86.1%
Michael Geronimo G. Martin, Ateneo de Manila University, 86.05%
Maria Melissa G. Tan, San Beda, 85.55%
Joseph Joemer C. Perez, UP, 85.45%
Neil Simon S. Silva, UP, 85.4%
Ma. Melissa Jamero, University of San Carlos, 85.3%

Four graduates of the University of the Philippines not only managed to get into the top ten, but took the top two positions as well. Three are from San Beda College, two from the University of San Carlos, and one from Ateneo de Manila University.
