To Kurt Cobain....

Image hosted by Photobucket.comKurt Cobain, lead singer for the Seattle based grunge rock band Nirvana, perhaps one of the most influential bands of the 90's, committed suicide eleven years ago, on April 5, 1994, at the age of 27. His body was only discovered more than a day later.

Nirvana is widely acknowledged to be the leading pioneer of grunge music, which is characterized by a violent, distorted and overdriven rock sound combined with lyrics of anger, vulnerability, and anguish. Their first album Never Mind is considered to be the most influential album of it's time. In fact, the first four chords of it's track Smells Like Teen Spirit have been called "The four chords which changed rock history."

His death turned him into a martyr for the disaffected, raised him to immortal status as a rock icon, and assured him of a place in rock history.

As long as there are people who share his pain, his anguish, his sadness, his legacy to rock music shall not be forgotten.
