Light and Shade....

During our stay in Cebu (see previous post), in a fit of boredom, a colleague of mine who also happened to be my hotel roommate gave me a primer of sorts regarding the subtleties of using light and shadow when composing pictures for added artistic flair. Ever the aspiring photographer, I listened to his points and we even experimented on a few shots using my digital camera. I have to admit that even to my untrained eye the appropriate use of light and shadow can certainly do a lot in enhancing the dramatic effect of a shot. Here's how a few of the shots came out, after being modified a bit using Adobe Photoshop:

Have no idea. All of a sudden it just wasn't there.

Chiaroscuro! Yes! That's the term I've been trying to remember. :-)

I couldn't even search for it, can't even remember how to spell it. :-)
